Don Ricci, CSCS
Don is the Owner and Head Coach of DELTA Weightlifting. Don’s athletic success and coaching pedigree is unmatched in the Sacramento area. Born and raised in Sacramento and a product of Jesuit High School, Don was a two-time NCAA National Champion and All-American water polo goalie for the University of Southern California prior to getting involved in weightlifting.
He has trained, been mentored, and coached under the direction of world class weightlifting, strength & conditioning and sport coaches including Sean Waxman, Ursula Garza Papendrea, Dr. John Garhammer, Tim Caron, and Aaron Ausmus.
In just a short period of time, Don has developed a strong culture of excellence that has enabled him to squeeze every last ounce of potential out of each member and athlete alike. His competitive weightlifting team reflects that culture with international level athletes and national medals to show for it.
Don is a USA Weightlifting Level 4 International Coach, a USA Weightlifting Lead Instructor for the Weightlifting and Sports Performance Coach (Level 1) certification courses, a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as a proud Power Athlete Block One Coach.
Prior to DELTA Weightlifting, Don served as a coach at Waxman’s Gym, L.A.’s premier weightlifting gym. There, he helped coach the competitive weightlifting team, spearheaded the youth sports performance program, and was an integral part in developing the gym’s weightlifting classes.
Don has coached and trained athletes from virtually every sport at levels ranging from youth beginner to National Team level. He has a great ability to effectively command and coach large groups of athletes from his time with the University of Southern California’s strength & conditioning department where he worked with football and most of the Olympic sports.
